The mission of the Inter-American Development Bank is to improve lives. Founded in 1959, the IDB is one of the main sources of long-term financing for economic, social and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IDB also conducts cutting-edge research projects and offers policy advice, technical assistance and training to public and private clients throughout the region. The 2017-2020 IDB Group Strategy for Guatemala will prioritize the strengthening of public management and transparency, the reduction of gaps in access to basic services for the population living in poverty, and the promotion of complementary inputs to private investment. . Special attention will be given to rural and indigenous populations, incorporating measures of cultural relevance and gender equality, as appropriate; as well as the inclusion of measures to adapt to climate change under a multisectoral approach. In addition, actions will be coordinated with the Plan of the Alliance for Prosperity of the Northern Triangle to maximize support for the territories of the Plan.
